North Galway Brigade – 1 Western Division
This brigade (in the formation listed here) existed only at the first critical date 11 July 1921 and, with the exception of the Active Service Unit, the data is for that period only. By the time of the second critical date of 1 July 1922 the 1 Tuam Battalion had been transferred to the Tuam North Galway Brigade, 2 Western Division, and the 2 Dunmore Battalion had been transferred to the 1 Battalion Castlerea Brigade, 1 Western Division.
1 Battalion: Unit strength on 11 July 1921 was 376 all ranks.The companies of the 1 Battalion were located as follows: Barnaderg, Tuam, Cortoon, Sylaune, Corofin, Abbeyknockmoy, Milltown, Belmont, Gardenfield, and Kilconly.
2 Battalion: Unit strength on 11 July 1921 was 391 all ranks.The companies of the 2 Battalion were located as follows: Dunmore, Kilterna, Williamstown, Kilcroom, Glynsk, Kilbegnet, Kilkerrin, Clonberne, Glenamaddy, and Pollredmond.Active Service Unit (Caherlistrane). The strength of the Column is given as 34 all ranks on the date 1 July 1922.
There is no data or mention of the A.S.U. provided for the period 11 July 1921.
