4 Tuam Brigade (North Galway) – 2 Western Division

The brigade in the form in which it existed on 11 July 1921 formed part of the 1 Western Division. The 1 (Tuam) Battalion was then designated the 1 Battalion, Galway North Brigade. The 2 (Headford) Battalion was then designated the 3 Battalion, Galway Mid Brigade. The 3 (Claregalway) Battalion was then designated the 1 Battalion, Galway Mid Brigade.
1 (Tuam) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 274 all ranks. The companies of the 1 Battalion were located as follows: Barnaderg, Tuam, Cortoon, Sylane, Corofin, Abbeyknockmoy, Miltown, Belmount, Gardenfield, and Kilconly.
2 (Headford) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 120 all ranks. The companies of the 2 Battalion were located as follows: Clooneen, Claran, Caherlistrane, and Annaghdown.
3 (Claregalway) Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 188 all ranks. The companies of the 3 Battalion were located as follows: Newcastle, Cregmore, Cussane, Monivea, and Kilcoona.
A North Galway Active Service Unit was located at Caherlistrane. On 1 July 1922 it had a strength of 34 all ranks. Personnel were drawn from the battalions of the brigade.
