2 South West Galway – 1 Western Brigade

1 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 450 all ranks. The companies of the 1 Battalion were located as follows:  Kilbeacanty,  Derrybrien,  Beagh,  Gort,  Peterswell,  and Kilchreest.
2 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 352 all ranks. The companies of the 2 Battalion were located as follows:  Kinvara,  Ballinderreen,  Ardrahan,  Kilmacduagh,  and Killartan.
3 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 418 all ranks. The companies of the 3 Battalion were located as follows:  Craughwell,  Athenry,  Oranmore & Mara,  Clarenbridge,  and Kilconeeran.
4 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 313 all ranks. The companies of the 4 Battalion were located entirely in Galway City, including the University, although no specific data is provided for the University.
5 Battalion: Unit strength on 1 July 1922 was 191 all ranks.The companies of the 5 Battalion were located as follows:  Castlegar, Claregalway,  Derrydonnell,  and Killimor Daly
